Varsity Boys defeat Medora on Senior Night 60-39
When Drew Mattingly took the floor Friday night against Medora, it was going to be his last home game after a career riddled with injuries and coaching changes. Surrounded by younger players, Mattingly scored 7 points and collected a pair of rebounds to help lead the Warriors to their third win of the season. Freshman forward Cody Bachman led the team with 14 points and 5 rebounds, Junior point Guard Miller McCorkle was perfect from the floor shooting 4 for 4 for 11 points, and Junior forward Chris Carruthers chipped in 8 points and a game high 10 rebounds to lead the way. Freshman shooting guard Greg Laughlin finished with 9 points, Sophomores Tyler Stumler and Nathaniel Burns combined for 8 points and 4 rebounds, while Junior Caleb Weaver and Freshman Aaron Hayes each found the scoreboard with 2 points and 1 point respectively.
For the Warriors, it marked their third win since Christmas break and helped bring back some confidence as they head toward the sectional tournament. They hit the road on Tuesday evening for their last regular season game against AAA power Corydon but then can settle in and get ready for the sectional opener against Lanesville next week. Go Warriors!
